The Inspiration Behind the Artwork
Corpo Fechado is born from the invisible force that protects and sustains life.
Inspired by the sacred plants of the Amazon - Snake Plant, Dumb Cane, and Tajá - Thay Petit’s artwork evokes the ancestral energy of the rainforest as both shield and amulet. The jaguar, a symbol of courage and guardian of the forest, merges with botanical forms and Indigenous patterns, becoming a being of spiritual protection and balance.
Created by Thay Petit, an artist whose work explores the connection between body, nature, and ancestry, this sculpture is a call to presence — a reminder that true power lies in honoring the past and caring for the world around us. The Adinkra Sankofa symbol, which invites us to “go back and retrieve what has been left behind,” intertwines with the artwork as a message of reconnection and wisdom.

About Jaguar Parade
Jaguar Parade is an art movement with a powerful purpose: to unite art and awareness in support of jaguar conservation and the protection of their natural habitats. Through open-air cultural exhibitions, we transform urban spaces into living galleries, sparking curiosity, inspiring reflection, and encouraging dialogue about the importance of conservation.
