The Inspiration Behind the Artwork
"Amor que Brota", by artist Maria Carolina Massad, was inspired by a true story that proves the most unexpected encounters can blossom into the most beautiful love stories. It all began on December 30, 1998, when two young people met in an internet chat room. At the time, connections were dial-up, digital photos were rare, and conversations happened without filters or appearances. For hours, they shared dreams, stories, and discoveries without even knowing what the other looked like. There were many coincidences between them: they lived in the same neighborhood, attended the same university, and yet had never met. After two months of conversations, they decided to take the next step. A photograph left in a mailbox became their first gesture of trust. Soon, a reply followed. It was love at the first message, the first photograph, and shortly afterward, the first meeting. That long-awaited meeting took place on a beach during the New Year holidays. After cycling several miles to see him, she was greeted by friends and family who already knew the entire story. Amid laughter, curiosity, and a little embarrassment, they shared their first kiss. It was the beginning of a story that would span decades. After four years of dating and one year of engagement, they were married on December 6, 2003. Together, they built a life filled with challenges, learning experiences, and achievements. Over time, they dreamed of growing their family. When they discovered they could not have biological children, they opened their hearts to a new possibility: adoption. What began as the dream of welcoming a baby became something even greater. On January 16, 2012, their family became complete with the arrival of Guilherme, aged 3 years and 4 months, and Gabriel, aged 1 year and 10 months. As they like to say, they became parents of “twins of different ages” - the most beautiful and transformative adventure of their lives. Today, looking back, it is impossible not to be moved by the fact that it all started with a simple online conversation. From that unexpected encounter grew a love story that blossomed, flourished, and took deep root, proving that true love always finds a way to grow, transform lives, and build families.
